The term European citizenship has recently become a buzz word. Everyone speaks about it, but no one really knows what does it mean and people keep asking: Is it just about politics? Is European citizenship a V.I.P. club? Where does it start and end? How can put it to our projects? How can we make it concrete and practical?

Sailors on the CitizenShip is a training course, which was developed as a module for youth workers/trainers to help them to answer their questions concerning the (European) citizenship issues. We will approach the idea of citizenship on three different levels: locally, nationally and in the European context. We will work on case, exaples and europe in practice. Together, we will be working on improving the 'sailors’ toolkit' on how to motivate youngsters for participation in their community and beyond.

Aim:
Sailors on the Citizenship is a training course that aims to support the professional development of young trainers and to raise the quality of their projects concerning (European) citizenship.

Objectives

· pointing out the connection between citizenship, responsibility for one‘s immediate environment and society and active participation,

· experiencing, discussing and sharing historical and recent understandings of citizenship and its implications for participation,

· approaching different levels of citizenship (local – national – international/European),

· sharing different visions and understandings of citizenship,

· reflecting on the notion of European identity and its underlying values (democracy, tolerance, plurality, human rights),

· experiencing European citizenship in praxis by simulations, cases and method development.

Please note that :

There will be a refund of 70 percent of the real travel expenses (But the total can not be more then the estimated amounts as in the application to the national agency – please check the amounts on the following page , it can be %10 more than the travel limit)

We need to proof everything to the national agency: Without original proof, unfortunately, we will not be able to refund you… So please bring with you:

* a photocopy of your passports

* the original invoice from the travel agency who delivered the flight ticket ! The invoice has to be addresses to your organization, or to yourself

* a photocopy of your original flight ticket

* save all boarding passes ( very important : we need them for the national agency!) The boarding pass for the flight back home will have to be send afterwards!

* Save all original train tickets or other tickets.

· Insurance will not be covered from Program funds, what means that you need to take care of travel and health insurance on your own expenses. (There will be no refund...)

· We ask you to bring with you, your bank account number, IBAN and SWIFT, and address of the bank. We will transfer the money once we have received all your necessary documents and also your return boarding pass. We will transfer after we got the return boarding pass.
